The FPED VIII objective was to provide leaders and decision-makers from DOD, Federal departments and agencies, and selected federal, state and local law enforcement and corrections agencies the opportunity to observe and become familiar with COTS physical security and force protection equipment available for procurement and testing within 90 days of the demonstration.

The FPED provides knowledgeable decision makers the opportunity to meet with manufacturers who may have physical security and force protection equipment to address their security or force protection short falls. Its format provides the opportunity to physically view, interact, and compare similar equipment provided by different manufacturers. The interaction between the attendees and manufactures creates a valuable synergy when vendors are provided direct user feedback that could enhance future improvements to their products.
Additional information about the FPED VIII can be found at http://www.fped8.org.

Innovative chaperones of The Charge, a high school US First Robotics Team, use a PICpatch Laptop Seal as a way to protect their team members and chaperones traveling on the road. They used the Chaperone Seals to seal the students in their rooms at night by applying the label over the door and the jamb. The industry standard is to use masking tape but this is not a fail-safe method. The PICpatch Chaperone Seal proved 100% effective and all the students understood how well the labels worked before they were sealed in their rooms for the night. The Chaperones slept well knowing they did not have to worry about any liability problems with students wandering the halls at night.

Uses of the PICpatch Chaperone Seals include sealing liquor cabinets or bottles from uninvited guests, sealing cell phones or other electronic equipment from being used and keeping areas off limits from any unwanted entrants.

PICpatch is announcing a new digital imaging security product for Cell Phones with Cameras.

This product is designed for Companies and organizations concerned with potential legal liability and product security concerns associated with unauthorized pictures taken by a Cell Phone Camera. The PICpatch product offers an affordable method to temporarily disable the imaging capability of cell phones, PDAs, and similar imaging devices. This temporary disablement provides an alternative solution for businesses and organizational facilities where such devices are currently banned.

Potential product applications cover businesses engaged in new product and prototype development, hospitals concerned with patient confidentiality/privacy, fitness center customer privacy, and educational institutions concerned with student and teacher privacy issues.

PICpatch products include non-residue tamper labels with various options including numerical tracking, embossing and custom company logos. Also available are individual customer / employee packages designed with individual device management in mind. Security consultant services are available for any size business.

Company founder and spokesperson, Mr. David Mamo, stated today; “In today’s world of personal liability and privacy, corporate liability and product security, we provide a solution which allows both companies and individuals to maintain and use their electronic devices while still retaining the use of the cell phone as a communication device. Most cell phones and PDAs come with cameras. Most people run their day to day lives with these devices. We offer an efficient, cost effective way to allow people to do so without the associated concern of potential liability due to unauthorized or unwanted camera related picture taking.”
